Description
Hollins Farmhouse is a house with attached outbuildings, which were formerly used as a shippon with a hay or straw loft and are now used for general storage. The farmhouse dates from the 17th century and has undergone later alterations. It features roughcast render and a graduated slate roof, with end chimneys that have 19th-century paired round shafts. The central porch, added in the late 19th century, has a pitched roof and a 20th-century door. There is one 19th-century sash window with vertical glazing bars on either side, and three early 19th-century sashes with glazing bars above.
The outbuilding is constructed of stone rubble with protruding through stones and also has a graduated slate roof. Inside the farmhouse, the west wing contains a cruck truss, and the living room has beams with remnants of a plaster cornice. The staircase, dating from the 17th century, features turned balusters. One of the bedrooms includes a decorative plaster panel with the initials IM1687 and an enriched frieze, while the second bedroom has a fireplace with a decorative panel above and an enriched frieze.
