Description

This is a substantial house with attached farm buildings, dated 1626, with later additions in the late 17th century. The structure is built of roughcast stone rubble with an old slate roof featuring laced valleys and five round chimneys, which taper on square bases. The building is two stories high and features slate dripstone over the ground floor windows. It has wood-mullioned windows, including four of five lights and three of three lights. The layout is in an "L" shape, with a gabled wing to the southwest which has been altered with later windows. A small overhanging oriel with a catslide roof is present. The main doorway is located in the angle of the ā€œLā€. A rear wing incorporates a spiral staircase and cross windows. A small wing to the east has three round chimneys. The interior is reported to be of good quality. For the historical context of the property, please refer to the general group description for Troutbeck Village.
