Description

The Old Post Office is a house, dating to 1600, as indicated by the inscription "EB 1950" under the eaves. It was formerly used as a post office. The walls are rendered rubble, topped with a graduated greenslate roof with stone ridges. A chimney is located on the left-hand gable. The house is two storeys high. A heavily studded, vertically boarded oak door, complete with an old lock, is set within a stone-built, gabled porch, which has a slate roof and side benches. A 19th-century shop window is located to the right, featuring iron glazing bars, a single opening pane, and an inserted GR letterbox. A casement window is to the left, and two casement windows are above, all of which are 20th-century replacements. A lower-level extension to the left is likely later but sympathetic in style.
