Description
Low Fell End Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century or early 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. It is constructed of roughcast stone and features slate roofs. The south elevation has two storeys and four bays, with the last two bays being higher due to the 19th-century addition. The first two bays have sashed windows with glazing bars, while the second two bays have casements. The fourth bay includes a two-light wooden-mullioned fire window with chamfered edges. The entrance to the third bay features wide-boarded studded doors with strap hinges that have fleur-de-lys ends and a wooden pull handle, along with an inset light. The farmhouse has gable-end stacks, with the eastern end stack being corbelled and having a rounded shaft, as well as a cross-axial stack. The rear of the building has an outshut under a catslide roof, with a stack on the east return, and a gabled wing that includes a gable-end stack and an entrance to the first floor accessed by steps. The interior, which has not been inspected, is said to contain a winding stair and a cambered fireplace beam.
