Description

Numbers 1 and 2 are two houses located immediately to the north-east of the Crown and Mitre public house, likely built in the early 18th century with some later alterations. They are constructed of stone rubble with slobbered mortar and feature a slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high with five irregular bays. The first bay has a lean-to porch attached to the Crown and Mitre public house.

On the ground floor, the first bay has a sashed window with vertical glazing bars, the third bay features a two-light single-chamfered-mullioned window with small-paned glazing, and a tall light to the right. The fifth bay contains a sashed window with single glazing bars in chamfered reveals, originally equipped with a flat-faced mullion, along with a small-paned window to the right.

On the first floor, the first bay has a sashed window with single glazing bars, while the second bay has a horizontally sliding sash. The third, fourth, and fifth bays originally have two-light single-chamfered-mullioned windows, with the third and fifth bays having lowered sills and sashes with single glazing bars. The fourth bay has a horizontally sliding sash. The entrance to the fourth bay features a lintel with a panel inscribed 'W & MS/1719' flanked by spirals, leading to a half-glazed door. The houses have a gable-end stack and two cross-axial stacks, one of which is squat.
