Description
Ulpha Bridge is a bridge over the River Duddon, with an uncertain date, likely from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features three segmental arches, with the two eastern arches designed to accommodate flood water. The arches have thin voussoirs, and the central arch includes a second ring of voussoirs centered on the south side. The parapets are a later addition and have flat coping. On the north side, there is a boundary stone with vertical inscriptions reading "ULPHA" and "SEATHWAITE," as well as another stone inscribed with "CC/ULPHA/BRIDGE."
