Description
Broad Oak Farmhouse, originally a farmhouse, dates to 1565, with later alterations and remodelling in the 18th century and 20th century. The farmhouse has roughcast rendered walls and a green slate roof laid in diminishing courses, with stone ridge tiles and end chimney stacks. A 6-panelled door is set within a gabled porch. There is one small casement window to the left, two casement windows to the right, and three casement windows above, all dating to the 20th century. Attached outbuildings to the right, originally under the same roof, were remodelled in the 20th century and are now incorporated into the living accommodation. The interior features a particularly fine early 18th-century panelled room, with a fireplace surround and a cupboard with curved shelves. A 17th-century staircase is present, featuring turned balusters and square newels. An ingle-nook fireplace contains an iron crane and panelled cupboards on either side. A staircase window has oak mullions, and a small cupboard is dated 1679.
