Description
Lodge Farmhouse and the adjoining former barn date from the early to mid 18th century, with an addition inscribed over the entrance as JOHN HODGSON 1774 and some alterations from the 19th century. The building features painted stucco walls beneath a graduated greenslate roof, complemented by banded pink sandstone ashlar chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a lower right two-storey, two-bay barn and rear extensions.
The central section has a three-light flat stone-mullioned window, flanked by sash windows set in painted stone surrounds. The barn includes a 20th-century cross-passage door within a painted chamfered surround. The upper-floor sash windows have plain reveals. The rear extension features a plank door in a painted stone surround with a dated lintel, as well as a two-light chamfered stone-mullioned window. The rear of the barn has a blocked cross-passage doorway, a two-light stone-mullioned window, and another plank door in a painted stone surround to the left. A low extension to the barn and the barns to the left of the house are not of interest.
