Description
The Horse and Farrier Inn and stables is a public house and stables dating from the mid-18th century, with early 19th-century extensions and alterations. The building features painted roughcast walls and is topped by a graduated greenslate roof, which includes a banded ashlar chimney stack and another rendered chimney. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with a lower single-bay extension on the right and right-angled stables on the left. A 20th-century porch with a hipped roof is present. The building has two- and three-light stone-mullioned windows on the left and right sides, while above, there are sash windows set in 19th-century painted stone surrounds. The extension includes a door and sash windows in similar stone surrounds. The stables feature a central segmental cart doorway flanked by additional doorways. The left return wall has two blocked window openings. The rear of the stables has been completely rebuilt in 20th-century brick, but it is included in the listing because it is integral to the Inn.
