Description
Meathop Hall, now two houses, was originally built in the late 17th century and has been altered since. It is constructed of stone rubble with slate roofs. The north elevation has two storeys and an attic, with four bays and a two-bay extension at each end. The bargeboards are decorative. The windows are double-chamfered mullioned, with two lights, although the first bay of the ground floor features a 19th-century bay window. The attic windows are three-light, with gabled dormers to the first three bays; the central lights are taller. The entrance has an embattled lintel and a studded door with planted battens and an original latch. Gable-end stacks have rounded shafts. The extension to the east has windows with fixed and opening lights, and a 20th-century glazed porch; it also has a gable-end stack with rounded shafts. The extension to the west, now a separate cottage, has casement windows and an entrance within a porch. A large, projecting gable-end stack has rounded shafts. The rear of the building includes an outshut under a catslide roof, and a small gabled wing to the west which has two entrances on its north side.
