Description
The former stable block at Castle Head, built in 1864, consists of stable and farm buildings. The outer walls are made of rock-faced limestone and limestone rubble, while the inner walls are constructed of brick. The roofs have been replaced with corrugated asbestos instead of the original slate. The buildings are arranged symmetrically around a courtyard.
On the west side, there is an elliptical entrance arch topped with an embattled wall that features a plaque inscribed with '1864'. The entrance is fitted with iron gates and includes a cast-iron weighbridge. The western range serves as a barn and has two round archways. The central section of the eastern range contains boarded doorways. To the south of the main buildings, an embattled wall lines the driveway and encloses a yard, with the east side featuring brick lean-to shelter sheds under a slate roof.
