Description
Low House and the adjoining barn, which now forms part of the house, is a farmhouse and barn that dates back to 1773, with earlier elements from 1740. The barn retains a doorway inscribed with "J.G.W. 1740" carved in wood, while the present house has an inscription over the entrance reading "J. & S.W. 1773." The exterior features painted incised stucco with angle pilasters and an eaves cornice, topped by a graduated greenslate roof with rendered chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a single-bay extension at right angles on the right side and a long lower barn to the left, creating an overall L-shape. The entrance includes a top-glazed panelled door beneath a patterned fanlight, framed by a pilastered surround and a segmental pediment that encloses the inscription. There are sash windows set in painted stone architraves. The barn has a plank door in a painted stone architrave beneath an inscribed lintel, with additional sash windows in painted stone surrounds located near the house. The barn extension to the left is not of interest.
