Description
High Hollins House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house. It dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century, likely built for the Fisher family. The exterior features painted incised stucco and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof, which has large square rubble chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has seven bays. A 20th-century door is set within a chamfered Tudor-arched surround, which is topped by a hoodmould. The windows are casements in original chamfered surrounds, all under hoodmoulds, with one window showing the remains of a mullion. At the rear, there are two chamfered cross-mullioned windows. Inside, there is a large inglenook with a massive firebeam, and a recess within the inglenook likely represents a partly-blocked firewindow. The ceiling is beamed.
