Description
Stool End Farmhouse, along with a barn to the southeast and another barn to the northeast, dates from the 17th century. The farmhouse is built of white-washed stone rubble and features a flag roof with squat chimneys, standing at two low storeys. It has a gabled open porch that is low in proportion, with an inner slate bench. The farmhouse has two windows on each floor that are irregularly spaced, including one 15-paned window, one 19th-century sash window, and two casements. There is a crude slate dripstone over the ground floor windows, although a third window is now blocked. The house consists of two parallel blocks, with the rear block being smaller and constructed of unmortared cobbles and slates.
The barn to the southeast is made of stone rubble without mortar and features two rows of slit openings. The larger barn and shippon to the northeast are also built of stone rubble and slate, without mortar, and have a slate roof with a simple rectangular plan.
