Description

Spout House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations. It is built of roughcast stone rubble and features slate roofs. The southeast elevation has two storeys and six bays, with the fifth and sixth bays projecting forward under a gable that includes an attic. There are two drip courses above the end two bays. The ground floor has casement windows beneath drips, while the end two bays have sash windows with glazing bars and horns. The first floor features two horizontally sliding sashes flanking a blocked window and a casement window, with the end two bays mirroring the ground floor. The attic of the end two bays has small-paned fixed glazing with an opening light. The entrance is located in the fourth bay and is sheltered by a lean-to porch. There is a cross-axial stack, and the right return has a lateral stack, a drip course, and small-paned casements, along with one sash window with single glazing bars and horns. The rear of the house includes a gabled wing with a gable-end stack featuring a rounded shaft, and an outshut with a catslide roof, which also has casement windows.

Inside, the house has chamfered beams and a spice cupboard door that reads: "TAM/17U9". There are two-panel doors, one of which has a wooden handle. A beef loft is situated above the fireplace, and there is a round-headed recess with shaped shelves. The staircase features slender turned balusters, square newels, and a moulded handrail, along with ramped dog gates with splats.
