Description

Grassthwaitehow is a 17th-century long, low house located in Grisedale, part of the Pattersdale area. The building is constructed of stone rubble that is cement-rendered, topped with a slate roof featuring a central and end projecting chimney. It stands two storeys high and has a slate dripstone over the entire ground floor. The front of the house includes two boarded doors, four windows on the ground floor, and six windows above. Number 1 has new casements in old openings, while Number 2 retains its original 12-paned sash windows. The house is built on a boulder base, and the rear wing features old horizontal sliding sashes. An east end was added around 1706.
