Description

The Castle Hotel is a late 18th century building located on the west side of Dunster High Street. It features a rough-cast exterior and a slate roof with four hipped casement dormers. The structure has two storeys plus attics and includes seven sash windows with glazing bars and cambered head openings. The central entrance consists of a recessed panelled door topped with a wooden open pediment supported by brackets and pilasters. Additional architectural details include a plinth, a first-floor band, and end pilasters. To the right, there is a contiguous two-storey wing with a slightly higher roof level and one dormer. This wing also has a wide cambered-headed archway and a square three-light oriel window with 19th century sashes on the first floor.
