Description
Brandish Street Farmhouse is a farmhouse from the mid to late 19th century that incorporates part of an earlier dwelling. It is constructed of squared red sandstone random rubble with quoins and features triple ridge tiles. There is a small brick stack rising from the eaves on the left, a stone stack at the rear, and additional brick and stone stacks in the wing. The building has an L-plan layout, with a 19th-century block that may have refronted an earlier structure facing south, and an east wing set into the hillside at the rear, which terminates in a loft over stables.
The south front of the farmhouse is two storeys high and has five bays. All the first-floor windows are 19th-century two-light casements, while the ground floor features segmental-headed three and four-light casements flanking the entrance. To the left, there is a gabled, clay-tiled full-height sunroom from the early 20th century, which is entered from the right return through a glazed door. The main entrance is adorned with a scallop-tiled rustic porch. The long right return consists of four bays, including an outbuilding, with 19th and 20th-century casements. The interior has not been seen but is assumed to contain features of interest.
