Description

Croft House is a late 19th century house located on Blackmore’s Path in Lynton. Although dated 1897 on the keystone above the front door, the architectural details suggest an earlier design. The house has a rendered facade with a slate-hung right gable and a slate roof. It follows a symmetrical double-depth plan with a low-pitched, wide-span gabled roof.

The house is two storeys high with an attic, featuring a three-window front. There are paired 2+2-light casement dormers, one over the right-hand side and a single similar dormer to the right, above three 12-pane sash windows set in plain reveals. At ground floor level, large 16-pane sash windows flank a doorway with flat pilasters to the bases and capitals, topped with a moulded arch over a plain fanlight and a 20th-century door. The windows are adorned with vermiculated keystones, and the keystone above the door displays the date 1897. A chimney stack is present on each gable, and the rear wall has casement windows.

The interior was not accessible at the time of listing, but a central stick baluster staircase was noted.
