Description
This direction post, located on the south-east side of Haytor Down and about 60 metres north-east of the turning to Haytor Vale, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of granite and has an oblong section that tapers towards the base, featuring a segmental-shaped head. The post is inscribed with directions: "TO WIDECOMBE" on the south-west side, "TO MANATON" on the north-west side, "TO BOVEY" on the north-east side, and "TO ASHBURTON" on the south-east side. The letters are highlighted in black paint.
