Description
Glebe Cottage is a cottage from the 18th century, with 20th-century extensions. It features granite rubble walls with larger quoins and a thatched roof that is hipped to the left and gabled to the right, while the rear extension has a slated roof. There is a gable end stack with a brick shaft. The cottage likely originally had a two-room central entrance plan, with one main heated room on the right and a smaller unheated service room on the left. The 20th-century extensions are located on the side and rear.
The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front, with 19th-century casements—two-light on the left and three-light on the right—featuring glazing bars. Some of the windows show signs of old H-L hinges. A former doorway between the two ground floor windows has been converted into a window in the 20th century. On the left gable end, there is a 20th-century two-light casement on the first floor, and a glazed door on the ground floor. The attached single-storey former outbuilding to the left has been converted into a kitchen and features a 20th-century three-light casement.
Three granite upright posts, evenly spaced along the front wall, suggest that this area was originally open fronted. There is also a single-storey extension at the rear and to the right gable end. Inside, the cottage contains an open fireplace with a plain wooden lintel and a cross beam to the left of the former doorway, marking the position of a partition that has since been removed. The main room features a cupboard door with fielded panels.
