Description

Delamore House is a large country house set in its own park, built in 1859 by J P St Aubyn for Admiral George Parker. It is designed in the Gothic style and constructed from granite ashlar. The house features a steeply pitched gabled slate roof and has two storeys plus an attic.

The entrance front, facing north, is asymmetrical. The left side projects with a buttressed corner and two asymmetrical gables, with an oriel window in between. To the right, there is a large four-light traceried stair window, and to the left, two smaller traceried windows, all showcasing geometric tracery. The entrance includes a two-centred arch doorway adorned with a shield, the monogram AFP, and the date 1859 in the tympanum. The centre of the facade is recessed, featuring straight-headed stone mullion windows and dormers.

On the right side, there is a three-storey porch with corner buttresses, set-offs, and ogee head lights on the top storey window, topped with a finial. Lower service wings extend at right angles to the right side of the house. The south garden front is symmetrical, consisting of five bays, with gabled projections on the left and right, a central gable, and two-storey canted bays. Large granite chimneystacks with weathering are also prominent features of the house.
