Description
Stephen Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, which was remodeled and had its eaves raised in the 19th century. It is constructed from rendered stone rubble and features a low pitched asbestos slate roof with gabled ends. There is an off-centre rendered stack on the left side of the building. The cottage has a three-room plan, with an oriel stack located off-centre to the left. The left end of the cottage is said to have been a Linhay but is now part of the house. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range, featuring 19th and 20th century three-light and one two-light casements with glazing bars. Inside, there is a late 17th century chamfered timber fireplace lintel with run-out stops, along with thin chamfered ceiling beams that also have run-out stops. The roof trusses include side-pegged lap-jointed collars and truncated joists above collar level.
