Description

The steps and former stile, now functioning as a gateway, are located on the path leading to the church and date from the late 17th century. They consist of a flight of shallow granite steps that lead up to the gateway, which is made up of two posts with slots for horizontal pieces. Set back into the wall on the right-hand side is a piece of granite featuring two recessed panels inscribed with '1T.B.' and '16..', although a break in the stone interrupts the date. The initials belong to Parson Thomas Bowen, who arrived in the parish in 1683.
