Description
Staddon's House and Cottage is a pair of houses that were originally one house, dating from the 17th century and altered in the 19th century. The structure features rendered rubble walls and has a gable-ended asbestos slate roof with three brick stacks—one at the left gable end and the others axial.
The original plan likely included three rooms with a through-passage, each room heated. In the 19th century, it was divided into two cottages, with the left-hand one being smaller and occupying the lower end.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical four-window front. Staddon Cottage, on the left, has two 20th-century two-light casements, one on each floor, and a one-storey hipped roof 19th-century addition at the front, which features a 20th-century plank door on the right-hand side. Staddon House has 19th-century two-light small-paned casements and a 20th-century part-glazed door to the left of centre, situated under a gable doorhood.
Inside Staddon Cottage, there are rough closely spaced ceiling beams. This building is part of a group with Town Farm and Littlecroft.
