Description

59 and 61 East Street are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century. They have solid rendered fronts and a slated roof, with stone-rubble chimneys, partly rendered, on each gable end. The houses have mirrored fronts, together featuring three windows wide with doorways in the center that share a flat hood supported by three enriched consoles. The doors consist of three flush panels below and four moulded panels (now glazed) above, with panelled reveals and narrow fanlights that have rounded ends. The windows are 8-paned sashes throughout, except for two ground floor windows in No 59, which have mid or late 19th-century 2-paned sashes. A prominent, plain eaves-cornice completes the design.
