Description
Shaugh Bridge is a road bridge over the River Plym, originally built in the 17th century, with its arches rebuilt in 1825. It is constructed of granite ashlar and features two spans with a central pier that has cutwaters on either side. The impost is located at the springing of the arch on the pier and abutments. The bridge was rebuilt above with very shallow segmental arches, and it has parapets with rounded coping and stringcourses. The original arches were destroyed by floodwater caused by a sudden thaw during the winter of 1823-1824.
