Description
66 Fore Street is a house dating from around 1800. The ground floor is stuccoed and blocked out, while the upper floors are slate-hung and painted, likely built on a timber frame. It has a gabled slate roof and a right end stack with a stone rubble shaft and platband. The building features cast-iron rainwater goods and has a double-depth plan that is one room wide.
The exterior is three storeys high with a one-window front and deep boarded eaves. To the left is a recessed 19th-century front door with six flush panels and an overlight featuring geometric glazing bars from the 1860s. Each floor has one original 16-pane sash window, with the two upper-floor windows having moulded frames and old glass. The rear elevation includes three small-pane timber casement windows with brick dressings. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features. This house is a particularly attractive example of a small urban dwelling.
