Description

This is a fragment of a cross shaft located approximately 4 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary in Throwleigh. Likely dating from the 15th century, it was discovered built into a wall at Throwleigh Barton and was relocated here in the 20th century on a plinth. The base of the cross shaft is made of granite and stands about 1.3 metres high. Its upper corners are chamfered with straight cut stops.
