Description

This footbridge, located 100 meters northeast of Courtledge Cottage, spans the Harbourne River and dates from around the 18th century, although it was likely reconstructed in the 19th century. It is a small clapper bridge made with roughly hewn monolithic slate slabs supported by four stone rubble rectangular piers. The bridge features an insubstantial 20th-century steel tube balustrade and iron stanchions. It was recorded by James Green, the County Surveyor, in 1809. For further reference, see C. Henderson and E. Jervoise's "Old Devon Bridges," pages 37 and 38.
