Description

This is a group of seven headstones, along with railings and a plinth, located in the churchyard about 3 metres north of the chancel of the Church of St Mary. The group dates from the mid-19th century and features slate and limestone headstones, a chamfered granite plinth, and cast iron railings.

The slate headstones include one for John Bennettes from 1825, which has an incised pennant and a shaped top; one for Anne Bennettes from 1853; one for Francis Kent from 1880; and one for Catherine Barratt from 1825, which features a shaped top, cross, and anchor. The limestone headstones include one for James Barratt from 1825, adorned with a fleuron border and a broken finial; another for James Barratt from 1851, which is bell-shaped with a cross finial; and an unidentified mid-19th century headstone with a Celtic cross finial, which was overgrown with ivy at the time of the survey in July 1985.

The railings are arcaded, featuring fleur de lys and shaped finials, with twisted uprights at the corners and a horizontal rail decorated with circular designs.
