Description

This barn, located approximately 10 metres east of Bowden Farmhouse, dates back to 1810. It features granite rubble walls with larger quoins and dressed stones forming a voussoir arch. The gable ends are topped with dressed granite coping stones and kneelers. The barn has a gable-ended slate roof with a shallow pentice over the front doorway. It has a three-bay plan, with a central threshing floor that includes opposing doorways. The structure is single storey with a loft. A large central doorway leads to the threshing floor, featuring a slightly cambered arch and plank doors. Above this doorway is a date stone inscribed with "E.C. 1810". To the right of the doorway is a narrow ventilation slit, and to the left, there is another building that projects at right angles. There are ventilation slits at both gable ends on the ground floor, and a loading door is located on the first floor of the left gable end. Inside, the barn likely retains its original pegged roof.
