Description
Linhays and barn located about 5 metres north-west of Bullaton Farmhouse date from the 18th to early 19th century. They are constructed of granite rubble, with the linhay featuring granite posts and weatherboarding. The roofs are made of slate with clay ridge-tiles, while part of the barn is covered with corrugated iron. The group consists of a long linhay in the centre, a smaller linhay at the north-east end, and a barn at the south-west end. The barn has a lean-to on its south-east side and the ruins of a rounded horse-engine house on the north-west side. The longer linhay has five rough granite posts, with the spaces between filled with later rubble walling. Its upper storey is faced with weatherboarding, and the roof-trusses have plain principal rafters with the collars pegged to their faces. The smaller linhay, which seems to be a later addition, has only one granite post in the ground storey, and a flight of stone steps leads to the upper storey against the gable. The barn features large opposing doorways on each side, and its roof is similar to that of the linhay but includes scissor-bracing. This structure is included for its group value.
