Description

The Tallet House is a house that was formerly a barn, located in the grounds of Yonder Wreyland. It likely dates from the 17th century or earlier. The structure is built of granite rubble and cob, topped with a thatched roof that is half-hipped towards the road. The building has two storeys and features a single-storey lean-to. The gable includes an old wood window with mullions and transoms, which has ovolo-moulded mullions and may have been re-set. The interior was significantly altered in 1984. The roof trusses date from the 18th or early 19th century and have collars pegged to the faces of the principal rafters. Cecil Torr, the author of "Small Talk at Wreyland," lived at Yonder Wreyland and did his writing in the Tallet House.
