SX7467 BUCKFAST ROAD, Buckfast 1011-1/5/35 Range of buildings to south of 06/01/83 Abbot's Tower, Buckfast Abbey

GV II

Range of houses, now in use as abbey offices. c1800 with C20 alterations. Cement-rendered; slate roof, gabled at ends; right end stack with rendered shaft, platband and old pot, axial stack to left of centre, rear lateral stack. Plan: single-depth plan with rear right outshut, interior re-partitioned and re-arranged for office use. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5-window south front with C20 timber door at the left. 5 ground-floor sash windows, the left-hand sash 8 over 12 panes, the others 16-pane hornless. 2 first-floor left-hand gabled dormers with a 12-pane and 20-pane sash, the other 3 first-floor windows are 16-pane hornless sashes. The west gable end has probably C20 small-pane sash windows. Rear elevation has C19 and C20 timber windows and a C20 timber door. INTERIOR: modernised. Roof not inspected but might be of interest.
