Description
King John's Cottages, also known as Runnymede, is a house with an attached stable, dating from the early to mid-18th century. The cottage is constructed of painted brick and features a tiled roof with a brick stack. It has one storey and an attic, with two windows. There is a central gabled dormer that contains a two-light casement window above a small four-pane casement window, and an eight-pane casement window to the right of a plank stable door, all of which are 20th-century replacements. A very large stack is located behind the ridge on the right, and there is a gabled back wing. The attached stable on the left is a lofty two-storey structure with a steep-pitched tiled roof that has a hipped outer end. Facing the road, there is a central first-floor plank loading door above a wide garage that lacks a proper lintel, along with a small plank door to the right. Toward the river, there is a brick-trimmed bullseye opening. The interior has not been inspected.
