Description
Field Barn, located on Longridge Lane in Ashleworth, is a barn that likely dates from the 16th century or earlier. It features timber-framed walls that are covered with weatherboarding and has a corrugated-iron roof. The barn consists of three bays and has double boarded doors on the north side that reach up to the eaves level, while the doors on the south side are positioned lower. The upper part of the gable facing the road is covered with corrugated iron, and the roof may have originally been designed as half-hip. There are lean-tos on the ends of the barn, but these are not considered of special interest. Inside, there are cruck trusses on either side of the threshing floor, which include collars and one pair of purlins. The interior was not inspected during the survey in 1985 as it was full at that time.
