Description
The Huntington Monument is a headstone located in the churchyard, about 1 metre south of the south chancel window of the Church of St Catherine. It commemorates R. Huntington, who died in 1664. The stone features a double cambered top with a flower situated between two sections, and the corners are swept out. A line defines two panels, with a double line rising up as a 'stem' to the flower. The inscription includes "RH/1664" on the left and "EH/1649" on the right. The top right corner of the headstone is chipped. This monument is associated with a larger wall monument to Rev. R. Huntington located on the outside of the chancel. It is noted as a very early headstone.
