Description
Lassington Court is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with minor alterations made in the late 19th century. It features English bond brickwork, a slate roof on the outer slopes, and double Roman tiles in the valley. The building is five windows wide and two rooms deep, rising to two and a half storeys, with an added single-storey lean-to at the back.
The main front faces at right angles to the drive and includes a six-panel front door, with the bottom three panels flush, and a two-pane rectangular fanlight above it. The flat porch roof is supported by shaped brackets. On either side of the door, there are two two-light mullion and transom windows with rubbed brick arches. A plain brick string course runs along the building, with five windows above that match those on the ground floor, and coved plastered eaves. There are two hipped dormers, one at each end, each containing a two-light casement window. The roof is an 'M' shape with a small central valley.
External brick chimneys are located at each end of the building, with one on the left side extending to the rear. On the right side, which adjoins the drive, there is a two-light window to the cellar on the left of the chimney, and to the right, stone steps lead down to a boarded door to the cellar, which is topped by a cambered brick arch. Another two-light window to the cellar is located to the right as well. Above these, there is a two-light window covered with gauze, leading to the ground floor, also with a cambered brick arch. A similar opening above is infilled with render. To the right, there is the gable of the later rear lean-to.
Inside, the front ground-floor windows have panelled shutters. The staircase features a moulded string and handrail, turned balusters, and square newels. In the rear room on the left, there is an exposed chamfered beam in the ceiling, and the windows have cyma moulding with an iron opening light.
