Description
The William Tyler monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard of the Church of St Nicholas, approximately 3 metres south of the nave. It commemorates William Tyler, who died in 1776. The tomb is made of sandstone and features a raised structure that was originally enclosed by a cast iron railing, which has since been removed. The tomb has a segmental end and a moulded plinth. On the south side, there is a raised rectangular inscription panel with a finely moulded margin, while the inscription panel on the opposite side has eroded away. At the west end, there is an urn surrounded by decorative foliage. The tomb is capped with a moulded margin and a pyramidal upper capping stone topped with a pineapple finial.
