Description

Staites House is an 18th-century house located in Teddington Village. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone and brick, featuring a red tile roof on the main body and stone slate roofing on other sections. The house has a rectangular plan with later extensions added to the west gable end. The main section is two storeys high with an attic, while the extensions include a 1.5-storey and a single-storey addition.

The south-facing elevation includes a three-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars and leaded panes on the ground floor, and another three-light casement with leaded panes on the first floor. There is a two-light 20th-century roof dormer with leaded panes. The 1.5-storey extension to the left features a two-light casement with leaded panes and a plank door, while a small casement and a plank door are located at the far left, which was formerly a wash-house.

On the roadside front, there are two three-light metal casements with dressed stone lintels and keystones on the ground floor, flanking a single-light casement with a dressed stone lintel. A three-light casement with a keystone is present on the first floor, along with two narrow casements with leaded panes for the wash-house. All casements have leaded panes. The main body has a projecting gable-end stack with twin shafts and moulded cappings, and there is a similar gable-end stack with moulded capping on the later extension, as well as a gable-end stack on the wash-house. An interior inspection revealed no features of special interest.
