Description

The pair of unidentified monuments located in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter, approximately 8 to 10 meters north of the north door, consists of two chest tombs from the early to mid-17th century, made of ferruginous limestone.

The first tomb, which is closest to the church entrance, features a flat-chamfered plinth and raised circular inscription panels on the north and south sides. It has a single blind arch with a keystone, pendant, and spandrels adorned with bossed decoration. At each end, there are rusticated clasping 'buttresses', and it is topped with a thick capping that has a moulded margin.

The second chest tomb, located about 2 meters north of the first and in a similar style, also has a flat-chamfered plinth. It includes a single large sunken oval inscription panel with a raised margin on the north and south sides, which is part of strapwork decoration featuring bosses in each corner. This tomb also has clasping 'buttresses' with strapwork decoration at each corner, a blind arch, and foliate decoration at each end, topped with a very thick capping that has a moulded margin.
