Description
The Joseph Pearce monument and a pair of headstones are located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary Magdalene. The chest tomb is dedicated to Joseph Pearce, who died in 1789, along with other family members. It is made of sandstone and sits on a limestone plinth with a moulded design. The monument features fielded inscription plaques and inscriptions on all four sides, topped with a moulded margin. To the west of the Joseph Pearce monument are two matching headstones. The left-hand headstone is for Ann Fisher, the wife of Thomas Fisher, although it does not have a legible date. The tops of both headstones are designed in the shape of a double scroll. The right-hand headstone commemorates Thomas Fisher, who died in 1677, and has sunken inscription plaques.
