Description

Upper Farm Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 17th century and further changes in the 18th or 19th century. The building features brick-nogged or rendered timber framing, painted brickwork, and a thatched roof. It is three bays wide, has one and a half storeys, and is one room deep, with a lean-to structure against the end gable. The house faces the road and has plain, painted brickwork.

The left side of the building is timber framed, generally consisting of two panels high. It includes a small two-pane window, a two-light casement with a panelled shutter, and another two-light casement in a swept dormer. The brick section has a four-pane window, and there is a timber-framed end to the lean-to against the end wall. The roof is hipped, with a chimney located on the ridge behind the brick section, and the ridge is slightly higher to the left of the chimney.

The right side features painted Flemish-bond brickwork with a tall window that may have replaced a door, a late 20th-century window with a cambered brick head, a six-panel door that is flush with a timber lintel, and a small four-pane sash window with a cambered head, along with a boarded door to the lean-to, also with a timber lintel. There are three swept dormers with two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected.
