Description
The Herbert monument is located in the churchyard of the Church of St George, approximately 1.5 metres south-west of the porch. This Grade II listed pedestal monument commemorates Elizabeth Herbert, who died in 1814, and was the wife of Thomas Herbert. It is made of limestone and sandstone. The east and west sides feature oval inscription panels adorned with draped foliage, while the north and south sides display stylized panels that imitate an open bible. The monument is topped with a sandstone capping, which has a pyramidal inner capping and a fluted urn with a pineapple finial at the apex.
