Description
No. 120 High Street is a house with a shop, built around 1840. It features stucco over brick and a tiled roof. This small two-storey building has a splayed corner and a wing that extends back to Trinity Street. On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window on the return, a 16-pane sash on the splay, and a tripartite window with 4:12:4 panes facing High Street, all set in moulded architraves above a plain cill. The ground floor has a large plate-glass shop front, a smaller return to Trinity Street, and a glazed door on the splayed corner, all finished in channelled rendering. A felted lean-to roof extends to the rear. The building features a moulded cornice, blocking course, and parapet. Behind the lean-to, there is a two-storey brick wing with three 2-light casement windows with segmental heads, and a mansard roof with eaves that include a brick dentil course. The roof is hipped at the street end, while the main front of the building appears to have a flat roof. The detailing is similar to that of Nos. 121 and 122, suggesting they were likely rebuilt at the same time. The interior has not been inspected.
