Description
The Vimpany and two Longney monuments are located about 15-22 meters south-east of the three Hodges monuments in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary. The monuments include a pedestal tomb for Elizabeth Vimpany, dated 1786, and two chest tombs for Frederick Longney, dated 1849, and Susanna Longney, dated 1801.
The Vimpany tomb is made of Forest limestone and features a curved pyramidal cap with a plain finial, a tall moulded plinth on a base, indented corners, a thin fluted frieze with central rosettes, and slightly raised panels on all sides. The east and west sides have ovals in low relief, while the north and south sides are shaped like headstones.
Frederick Longney's tomb is constructed from limestone and has a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping. The ends are indented with upturned gadroon moulding at the base and carved floral reliefs. The south side features an oval panel with a moulded edge and a palm leaf surround, with flanking carved strips on the north side.
Susanna Longney's tomb is also made of limestone, with a flat top and a moulded plinth and capping on a large base. The ends are indented and feature a fluted frieze. The west side displays a shield and ribbon, while the east side has an urn, book, and drapery. Each side has large raised ovals adorned with draped palm leaves.
