Description
Rectory Farmhouse is probably of 17th-century origin, although it was largely rebuilt in the 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of brick, now repointed, with a concrete tile roof. It originally had a brick end stack to the right, which was external, and another to the left, now incorporated into a 20th-century extension. The main block features two large cross-gables of two storeys and an attic, alongside a single-storey section to the right and a two-storey wing of the 20th century to the left, which is not of particular interest.
The front elevation has three windows, each with three, two and three lights, stone mullions, and square hoodmolds, all apparently 19th century, with leaded casements (some repairs to the stone mullions have been carried out in the 20th century). The attic windows are paired wooden casements. The ground floor mirrors the fenestration, with three-light windows flanking a central entrance, which has a gabled open porch hood supported by struts with a curved barge board. There is a 20th-century door and single stone lights with square hoodmolds to either side. The rear elevation has similar window arrangements. A two-course brick string runs between the ground and first floors.
Inside, ground floor rooms to each side of the hall have chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. The room to the left has a large fireplace with a renewed timber bressumer.
