Description
The Raisher and Unidentified Monument is located about 17 meters south-south-east of the tower in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary. This Grade II listed structure consists of a chest and railed pedestal tomb.
The pedestal tomb, dedicated to the Raisher family, dates back to 1798 and is made from Forest limestone. It features a stepped cap with an urn-like finial on a flat top, a tall plain plinth, and a base adorned with tall spearhead railings and corner urns. The design includes square, unfluted corner columns and pointed arch panels with colonnette jambs, each side displaying different cherubs' heads in the spandrels.
The unidentified chest tomb, likely from the mid-18th century, is constructed from limestone and has a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping. It features gadrooned quarter balusters, recessed end panels with an urn on the west side and a torch on the east side, a relief cartouche on the north side, and a raised oval on the south side with a carved surround.
