Description
Pitman House is a detached house from the early 19th century. It has a smooth rendered exterior and a hipped slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall and features three window sashes with glazing bars set in deep reveals. The entrance includes a six-panel door with a traceried fanlight, framed by a stone surround topped with an open pediment supported by brackets. A wooden cornice runs along the eaves. To the left of the door, there is a plaque that notes Sir Isaac Pitman invented his system of shorthand known as Phonography here in 1837.
